The New Mexico Lottery Success Scholarship*
The lottery Scholarship covers a percentage of tuition for any public New Mexico post-secondary school for those who are eligible beginning the 2nd semester. The lottery Success Scholarship is awarded to any New Mexico resident whom:
-Has completed the FAFSA form the winter of their Senior year and been accepted by the school’s deadline
-Is a graduate of a New Mexico high school
-Meets admission/enrollment requirements
-Has obtained a 2.5 GPA during 1st semester of college and maintains a 2.5 gpa
-Is enrolled in college fulltime 15 credits or more
-Has not been awarded another scholarship that covers 100% of tuition
www.krqe.com/news-resources/understanding-new-mexicos-free-college-offer/
Although the Lottery Success Scholarship does not begin until after the first semester of college, students
MUST attend a public New Mexico post-secondary institution the first semester after graduation from high
school to qualify. There is NO separate application, but students must do the FAFSA and be accepted to
that NM school by their deadline.
(note: Students who do NOT have a social security # can still qualify)
Most public NM colleges offer a BRIDGE* Scholarship to help cover that 1st semester of school- usually
about $1,000-$1,500 (before the Lottery kicks in). Students MUST graduate from high school with a minimum
GPA of 2.5 (3.0 at UNM) to qualify. Students also must complete the FAFSA and any other application
materials by that school’s deadline for the school they plan to attend.
*Lottery and Bridge Scholarship qualifications vary by institution and changed with each legislative session. Please check with the financial aid/scholarship office at the school for more updated information.
